See BusinessI studied broadcast journalism, landed a TV internship, and within a few years I was chasing daily stories and dispatching crews around the world for a nightly science show. Whatever they shot, we fed back, cut that night and put to air.
Since then I’ve been a researcher, story producer, series producer, field director, story editor and development director. Every one of those jobs came down to two things: finding the footage, and finding the people behind it.
My work has aired on Discovery, The Weather Channel, Apple TV and Crave. Even a clip I shot on my own iPhone made it to air, in Claw Hunters.
The idea hit me on the bridge of a research ship off Newfoundland, heading back to a newly discovered coral garden with marine scientists and Indigenous youth learning ocean science. One of the mates pulled out his phone and showed me the storms he’d filmed right where we were. Incredible footage that nobody would ever see.
So I built Selfshot. The people who film it get paid. The people who need it can finally find it, and the person behind it.
Prices in US dollars.
